The Family Farming Acceleration and Food Security Reinforcement Program, which will be in force in the three-year period 2023-2026, aims to accelerate family production of market-oriented forest products, strengthen technical training levels and increase funding for family farming in a decentralized manner and increase family income, according to the Jornal de Angola.
According to the president of the Board of Directors of the Agricultural Development Support Fund (FADA), Felisbela Francisco, quoted by the Angolan newspaper, the program also aims to improve food and nutritional security levels and self-sufficiency in some food products, aiming to reach about 196 thousand hectares of cultivated land.
At the production level, it is expected to harvest about 3,557 thousand tons of products that make up the basic basket and benefit more than 660 thousand families.
The program is aimed at family farms, cooperatives and agricultural associations, as well as micro and small businesses.
Family farming contributes with more than 80% of the food products in the Angolan basic basket.
The program provides for a set of measures, including the creation of a Single Registry of Family Farmers, to control the farmers who benefit from state support.
