Of the total number of people who were unemployed in the 4th quarter of 2023, 56.4% (200,000) remained unemployed in the 1st quarter of 2024, 25.9% (91,800) transitioned to employment and 17.7% (62,800) transitioned to inactivity. In the same period, 28.7% (48,900) of unemployed men and 23.3% (43,000) of unemployed women transitioned to employment. From the 4th quarter of 2023 to the 1st quarter of 2024, 30.8% (70,000) of the short-term unemployed and 18.1% (24,600) of the inactive belonging to the "potential workforce" transitioned to employment. At the same time, 9.7% (65,700) of the people who had a self-employed job and 23.2% (82,100) of the people who were unemployed transitioned to a job as an employee of others. Of the total number of employees of others who, in the 4th quarter of 2023, had a fixed-term employment contract or another type of contract, 22.5% (163,900) had a permanent contract in the 1st quarter of 2024. Of the number of people who had a part-time job in the 4th quarter of 2023, 19.9% (79,700) were working full-time in the 1st quarter of 2024. The percentage of people who remained employed between the 4th quarter of 2023 and the 1st quarter of 2024, but who changed jobs, decreased by 0.4 percentage points compared to the last quarter, standing at 3.3% (159,400).
