Wall Street stocks trade higher in early trading
The Wall Street stock exchange traded higher today at the start of the session, on the same day that it was announced that the annual inflation rate in the USA slowed to 3.4% in April.

By 2:45 p.m. (Lisbon time), the Dow Jones index rose 0.44% to 39,732.80 points and the Nasdaq technology index rose 0.47% to 16,590.32 points.
The broad S&P 500 index, in turn, rose 0.42% to 5,269.34 points.
On Tuesday, the New York Stock Exchange closed higher, with the Nasdaq rising 0.75%, reaching a record 16,511.18 points.
The year-on-year inflation rate in the United States slowed, for the first time since January, to 3.4% in April, against 3.5% in March, the US Department of Labor announced today.
The US Department of Labor (Bureau of Labor Statistics, BLS) reported today that consumer prices rose 0.3% in April, against 0.4% in March.
Underlying inflation, the main data analyzed by the US Federal Reserve (Fed), fell two tenths of a percentage point in year-on-year terms to 3.6% in April.
After eleven increases since March 2022, the Fed has kept interest rates since July of last year in a range between 5.25% and 5.5%, the highest level since 2001.
