On April 17, the energy services regulator had already presented this proposal, which was confirmed today.

"In the case of the regulated market, the combined effect of the increase in the network access fee and the reduction in the energy component results in a 0.1% reduction in the sales tariff for end customers", reads the ERSE statement released today.

As of June, the average monthly bill for a couple with no children, with a contracted power of 3.45 kVA (kilovolt-amperes) and a consumption of 1,900 kWh (kilowatt-hours) per year will be 37.49 euros, which represents a decrease of 18 cents compared to the May bill.

The average monthly bill for a couple with two children, with a contracted power of 6.9 kVA and a consumption of 5,000 kWh per year will be 95.66 euros, four cents less than in May.

In the case of the Autonomous Region of the Azores, the sales tariffs for end customers show a reduction, between May and June, of 10.1% for medium voltage (MV) customers and 2.8% in special low voltage (SLV) and a gain of 1.5% in normal low voltage (NLV).

In the case of Madeira, the tariffs reflect a reduction of 10.4% for MV customers and 2.4% in SLV and an increase of 1.2% for NLV.

In the same note, the regulator pointed out "significant decreases in energy prices on the wholesale markets", both in terms of spot prices and futures markets for the rest of the year.

Energy prices on the wholesale market (MIBEL), in the first quarter, averaged 36.7 euros per MWh (megawatt-hour), below the 88.3 euros forecast by ERSE for the calculation of tariffs in 2024.

In turn, the prices forecast in the futures markets for the rest of the year are below 88.3 euros per MWh, "although they are higher than the average price recorded in the first quarter of the year, which leads to a new estimate of 46 euros per MWh for the average energy price on the wholesale market in 2024".

The ERSE also stressed that the proposal contributes to "greater tariff stability" in the long term.
