Mercadona opens its 50th store in Mainland Portugal this Thursday. And the opening marks two important moments for the brand: First, because it is the first of several stores that the brand intended to open this year and, secondly, because it is the first supermarket of the Spanish brand to open in the Guarda district.
The new supermarket is located on Avenida de São Miguel and created 75 new jobs in the locality.
Like other stores, the space has a sales area of 1,900 m2, and has sections for Butchery, Fish Market, Delicatessen, Pastry and Bakery, Perfumery, Home and Pet Care, Fruits and Vegetables, Wine Cellar and Ready to Eat with self-service. It has 140 parking spaces and two more for charging electric vehicles, in line with the company's commitment to electric mobility, the brand says in a statement.
It should be recalled that Mercadona had already announced that it intended to open 11 new stores in Portugal this year, namely in Oliveira de Azeméis, Porto, Coimbra, Guarda, Évora and Leiria. The first of these new stores opens today.
The brand thus gives "continuity to its expansion project in Portugal".
