CGD increases profit by 38% to 395 million in the 1st quarter
Caixa Geral de Depósitos (CGD) had profits of 394.5 million euros in the first quarter, 38.4% more than in the same period of 2023, the public bank reported today.

The financial margin (difference between interest charged on credit and interest paid on deposits) rose 17% to 716 million euros while commissions fell 4.7% to 142 million euros.
The operation in Portugal contributed 344 million euros to the profit and the international activity with 51 million euros.
Regarding the 2023 profits (1,291 million euros), CGD will deliver 525 million euros in dividends to the State in the current quarter.
