"There is a desire [for 300 million euros in additional dividends], but nothing has been decided or recorded in the accounts," said Paulo Macedo, at the press conference to present the first quarter accounts of Caixa Geral de Depósitos (CGD), in Lisbon.
In response to journalists, Paulo Macedo said that this issue of additional dividends was not a topic in the first conversation he had with the Government but that it will be addressed.
CGD will deliver to the State, in the current quarter, 525 million euros in dividends related to the profits of 2023 (1,291 million euros). Thus, if this additional dividend is confirmed, the amount to be delivered for 2023 will be 825 million euros.
The public bank today presented profits of 394.5 million euros in the first quarter, 38.4% more than in the same period of 2023.
