Maria do Rosário Ramalho was heard by the Committee on Labour, Social Security and Inclusion, due to the situation of the Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa (SCML), having criticized the increases in the wage bill in view of the financial situation of the institution.
The Minister of Labour, Solidarity and Social Security said that the negotiation with the unions for a Company Agreement seemed "very good" to her, but she drew attention to the fact that this presupposes that "a company in restructuring increases its workers by an average of 6.2%.
"The provider hid from me the information that she had made two agreements, with the nursing staff and the doctors, which provide for an increase of 20%, 10% in 2024 and another 10% in 2025", revealed Maria do Rosário Ramalho.
"It commits the Santa Casa to future expenses", she criticized.
In response to the fact that she had said, in an interview with the RTP television channel, that the members of the Board benefited from increases in their own salaries, the minister explained that she was referring to the fact that between 2022 and 2023 the social bodies had been increased by 20%.
On the other hand, she argued that the ordinance that results from the SCML statutes, and that supports the increases, states that they are made by reference to the status of the public manager and not by indexation.
