"Of course we are concerned and we are assessing this situation, because if the litigation is successful, we will stop this rolling stock tender, and it was the biggest tender so far", said the Minister of Infrastructure and Housing, Miguel Pinto Luz, in the Assembly of the Republic, in response to a question from the parliamentary leader of the Free, Isabel Mendes Lopes.

At issue is the procedure for the acquisition of 117 trains for CP - Comboios de Portugal, the largest purchase ever, worth 819 million euros, which was awarded to the group formed by the French from Alstom, but contested in court by CAF and Stadler.

"We want CP to have this investment, CP needs this investment and it was not ours, it comes from behind, once again I have no problem saying it here", stressed the minister.

Regarding the role of CP in the high-speed rail service, the minister recalled that the company will be one of the operators, but not the only one.

"It is not in CP's strategic plan to be the only one, CP has no ambition to have a hegemonic quota in the TGV, it is not possible, CP will invest in the acquisition of rolling stock for high speed, it will do so, for a quota that is yet to be defined, in a market that will be more open with other players", explained Miguel Pinto Luz.
