The day's final results indicate that the Dow, after Friday's record that placed it above 40,000 points for the first time at the closing, fell 0.49%.

But the Nasdaq registered a new all-time high, closing with an appreciation of 0.65%, while the broad S&P500 was on the verge [two hundredths] of a new record, after advancing 0.09%.

"We had a mixed session, with the Nasdaq advancing in the wake of technology stocks," noted Peter Cardillo of Spartan Capital.

Microsoft, the largest market capitalization, rose 1.22%, after the Redmond group presented its first augmented PCs with artificial intelligence (AI).

The computer conglomerate estimates that more than 50 million "AI PCs" will be sold in the next 12 months, given the appetite of developers and the public for these digital assistants that anticipate their needs.

Following this, the spotlight turned to Nvidia, which gained 2.49%, which develops microprocessors dedicated to AI.

Its stock has already appreciated 91% since the beginning of the year and more than 200% in the space of 12 months.

Moreover, its capitalization has become the third largest in the S&P500, with more than 2.3 billion dollars, even ahead of Alphabet (Google).

For its part, the Dow suffered pressure from bank and energy stocks, to close below 40,000 points, which it had exceeded for the first time on Friday.

"It is normal for the Dow to retreat after it has exceeded a new threshold," said Cardillo.

With no macroeconomic news, today and during the week, the main point of interest in the coming days should be the release of the minutes of the last Federal Reserve (Fed) monetary policy meeting.

Today, several Fed officials, such as vice presidents Michael Barr and Philip Jefferson, warned that the benchmark interest rate should remain high for some time.
