Construction output rises in March in the euro area and falls in the EU
According to data released today by Eurostat, construction output rose slightly year-on-year by 0.1% in the euro area and fell by 0.7% in the European Union (EU) in March.

Compared to February, construction output rose by 0.1% in the euro area and fell by 0.1% in the EU as a whole.
The EU statistical service indicates that, among the Member States for which data is available, the largest year-on-year falls were observed in Poland (-9.6%), Slovenia (-8.6%) and the Czech Republic (-8.3%) and the main increases in Belgium (7.3%), Italy (3.8%) and Bulgaria (3.7%).
On the other hand, in the chain-linked variation, the Czech Republic (-7.8%), Slovakia (-7.6%) and Slovenia (-7.4%) showed the largest decreases in the indicator, while Romania (9.1%), France (1.1%), Belgium and Germany (1.0% each) reported the main increases.
In Portugal, construction output grew by 0.9% year-on-year in March and fell by 2.1% compared to February.
