Couples with both partners unemployed rose 9.3% in April to 5,051
The number of couples with both elements unemployed increased by 9.3% in April year-on-year to 5,051, according to the Institute of Employment and Professional Training (IEFP).

Compared to March, there is a slight increase of 0.4%.
Couples in this double unemployment situation are entitled to a 10% increase in the value of their unemployment benefit, when they have dependents.
"At the end of April 2024, 306,527 unemployed people were registered with the mainland's employment services, of which 40% were married or lived in a de facto union, totaling 122,551", IEFP also states.
The number of unemployed people registered at employment centers fell by 1.9% in April compared to March, but rose by 7.8% year-on-year, totaling 318,331.
