The profit achieved in 2023 was due to the improvement in the supply of seats and the increase in passengers transported, justifies the airline Air Europa in a statement.
The gross operating profit (ebitda) in the year under analysis exceeded, in turn, 205 million euros, 197.5% more than in the previous year and almost 90% above the value of 2019, before the covid-19 pandemic.
Air Europa's revenues amounted to 2,756 million euros, 18.3% more than in the previous fiscal year.
The airline's performance allowed it to have the necessary capacity to face the partial early repayment of the 141 million euro bank loan received in 2020, with the guarantee of the Official Credit Institute (ICO).
In this sense, a few days ago the company completed the amortization of more than half of this loan and will finish paying the remaining amount in August of this year, it emphasizes in the statement, continuing the "deleveraging process" and the "reduction of financial costs".
"The excellent results obtained further reinforce the viability of Air Europa and confirm our ability to fulfill, alone, all the commitments we have made," emphasized the president of Air Europa, Juan José Hidalgo, in the note released.
