In a statement, Hyperion, a Portuguese company linked to the development of renewable energy projects, indicates that it has started the "construction of the new Abrantes photovoltaic plant", in a project that "will produce the equivalent of the average annual consumption of 15,000 homes" and "promote community involvement".

The plant, which will be installed on 53 hectares of land in the village of Arreciadas, in the Union of Parishes of São Miguel do Rio Torto and Rossio ao Sul do Tejo, will be composed of 35 thousand solar panels.

In a statement released today, the company indicates that the works started in March, with the cleaning and fencing of the land, and that the photovoltaic plant is expected to start operating in early 2025.

According to the promoters, "the municipality of Abrantes will be entitled to compensation to be paid by the Portuguese State, through the Environmental Fund, in a total amount of more than 270 thousand euros, a value calculated based on the energy production" from the plant, which will have its injection point to the grid at the Olho de Boi substation, in Alferrarede.

Hyperion, headquartered in Lisbon, also indicates that it "intends to promote initiatives to involve local communities", having "proposed a set of possible proposals".

"In collaboration with the municipality, it will be decided which initiatives will have the greatest positive impact on the communities and which will go ahead", says the company.

Hyperion Renewables, founded in 2006, also indicates in the note that it has investments in Spain and projects for Romania, and is building 17 photovoltaic parks in the central region of the country, in a global investment of 105 million euros, which will generate a production capacity of 150 MW of photovoltaic energy in Portugal.
