FlixBus bus trips from the Spanish cities of Madrid and Seville to Lisbon have been sold out for several days. In turn, tickets for trips within Portugal – and bound for Lisbon – are also seeing a sharp increase in demand. The reason? The concerts by American Taylor Swift, who will make her debut in Portugal on May 24 and 25, at Estádio da Luz. All trips from Madrid and Seville, on May 23 and 24, as well as the respective return trips, either on Saturday, May 25, or Sunday, May 26, are sold out, according to the company, in a statement. In turn, trips during the same period from the Spanish capital to Porto saw above-average demand, being completely sold out on Thursday. The same scenario applies to return trips, which "have booking rates close to 100%". Trips within Portugal are also seeing a sharp increase in demand, with "trips from Porto to Lisbon already completely sold out, especially those scheduled for the morning on the days of the concerts", specified Pablo Pastega, general director of FlixBus for Portugal and Spain. Trips from Coimbra, Leiria, Viseu, or the Algarve to Lisbon are also seeing "a sharp increase in demand for next weekend". However, there are other destinations with high demand, reaching up to 30% occupancy. In the manager's view, this is a sign that "more people are travelling in Portugal". Even so, Portugal is not a unique case, since "the concerts scheduled for Madrid, on May 29 and 30, or those that took place in France, earlier this month, generated identical phenomena". In this regard, FlixBus "reinforced its offer on domestic and international lines to respond to this high demand". "This increase in demand is proof that bus trips are playing an increasingly relevant role when choosing the means of transport, whether for work or leisure trips. Not only because they are affordable, comfortable, safe, and sustainable, but also because of the price factor, which has a considerable weight at the time of choosing. The so-called express buses are part of the country's mobility solution, and this high demand and the capacity to respond is proof of that", concluded Pablo Pastega. Taylor Swift makes her debut in Portugal on Friday and Saturday, accompanied by the band Paramore. According to See Tickets, doors open at 4 pm and the show, which will last about three hours, starts at 6 pm. In addition to 45 songs from her 11 released albums, the artist usually treats fans to other songs, usually acoustic.
