PRR? Execution should reach 38% by the end of 2024
The entity that manages the implementation of the Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP) expects to have 38% of the program's funds executed by the end of this year, announced today the president of the Recovery Portugal Mission Structure, Fernando Alfaiate.

At the annual Recovery and Resilience Plan event, which took place in Lisbon, Fernando Alfaiate said that, by the end of 2024, the structure intends to increase the implementation percentage of the RRP from 23% to 38%, with the aim of reaching 59% of funds disbursed by the European Commission.
"This is our objective in terms of the action plan," he highlighted.
To reach 38% implementation, Portugal must "work towards achieving 463 goals" and milestones agreed with the European Commission, and thus submit the fifth and sixth request for disbursement of RRP funds to Brussels.
The objectives "are ambitious, but they are achievable. (...) We must have this commitment and we will fight to make it happen, so that this path becomes a reality," he said.
The official highlighted that the structure also intends to strengthen payments to the plan's beneficiaries, to 37%, by the end of 2024.
"To do so, we also need to have 100% approval by the end of 2024. From 80% [of contracted funds] we have to move quickly to 100% to be able to achieve this implementation," he said.
At the opening session, the Minister of Territorial Cohesion had announced that the Government will ask Brussels next month to deliver the 713 million euros that were withheld from the Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP).
The minister also highlighted the need for applications and payments under the RRP to be faster, and that in the coming months works worth over two billion euros should be launched if the country does not want to lose funds.
