European stocks rise after Fed minutes

Major European bourses were higher today after minutes from the US Federal Reserve (Fed) revealed that several of its members favour an interest rate hike.

At 8:45 am in Lisbon, the EuroStoxx 600 was up 0.36% to 523.05 points.

The Paris and Frankfurt stock exchanges rose 0.36% and 0.34%, while Madrid and Milan rose 0.22% and 0.32%.

London was the exception, falling 0.11%.

After opening higher, the Lisbon stock exchange reversed the trend, and at 8:45 am the main index, the PSI, was down 0.02% to 6,948.73 points.

In today's session, the market will be watching macroeconomic data, with the release of the PMI activity index for the eurozone as a whole and for several European countries.

Wall Street ended in the 'red' after the release of the Fed minutes, which showed that several of its members emphasized the need to raise interest rates to contain inflation.

The Dow Jones ended down 0.51% to 39,671.04 points, against a new high since its creation in 1896, of 40,003.59 points, seen on May 20, and the Nasdaq fell 0.18% to 16,801.54 points against a new high of 16,632.63 points seen on May 21.

In the United States, the market was watching the results of Nvidia, a major US technology company, which announced profits that multiplied by seven, thanks to the rise of Artificial Intelligence.

Nvidia's shares, the world's third-largest capitalized company, rose more than 7% after the official market close.

The futures of the main Wall Street indicators anticipate, at this time, a higher opening.

The interest rate on the 10-year German bond, considered the safest in Europe, rose to 2.535%, against 2.534% on Wednesday.

The barrel of Brent oil for delivery in July opened lower today, trading at $81.64 on the Intercontinental Exchange Futures (ICE) in London, against $81.90 on Wednesday.

On the foreign exchange level, the euro opened lower on the Frankfurt foreign exchange market, trading at 1.0828 dollars, against 1.0842 dollars in the previous session.
