The exemption from fees due for property acquisition registrations (including those due for loan and mortgage registrations) is part of the set of support measures for the purchase of a first home by young people up to 35 years of age, approved today by the Council of Ministers.
In addition to the exemption from registrations, young people will also benefit from a total exemption from IMT and Stamp Duty for homes up to 316,772 euros. For homes with a value above 316,272 euros and up to 633,453 euros, the IMT and Stamp Duty due for this value range must be paid.
According to information released by the Government, this tax exemption will have an estimated annual cost of 100 million euros.
As they include fiscal matters, these proposals will now have to be submitted for consideration and voting in the Assembly of the Republic, but the Government believes that there are conditions for them to come into force on 1 August.
