PRR. Execution rises to 20% with payments reaching 4,358 million

The financial execution of the Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP) rose to 20%, with payments to direct and final beneficiaries reaching 4,358 million euros by Tuesday, it was announced.

According to the latest PRR monitoring report, the total amount of payments to these beneficiaries now stands at 4.358 billion euros, bringing the financial execution of the plan to 20%.

The total amount of payments also corresponds to 20% of the contracted amount and 24% of the approved amount.

Compared to last week, the direct and final beneficiaries of the PRR received 44 million euros more.

Companies lead the payments, with 1.695 billion euros received, followed by public entities, with 1.010 billion euros.

Public companies (470 million euros), municipalities and metropolitan areas (383 million euros) and schools (275 million euros) also stand out.

Then come the higher education institutions (176 million euros), families (165 million euros), institutions of the social and solidarity economy (101 million euros) and institutions of the scientific and technological system (81 million euros).

In turn, project approvals rose to 17.800 billion euros, corresponding to 80% of the allocation and the contracted amount.

The companies with the highest approved amounts are (5.771 billion euros), public entities (4.848 billion euros), public companies (2.738 billion euros) and municipalities and metropolitan areas (2.353 billion euros).

Then come the higher education institutions (663 million euros), institutions of the social and solidarity economy (439 million euros), schools (429 million euros) and institutions of the scientific and technological system (340 million euros).

At the bottom of the table are families (211 million euros).

As of Tuesday, the PRR had received 333.581 applications, of which 221.007 have been analysed.

The approved applications are at 176.455, 37 more than last week.

Of the 463 milestones and targets agreed with the European Union, Portugal has already met 102 and three remain under assessment.

The amount transferred by Brussels to Portugal is 7.772 billion euros.

On 22 September 2023, the European Commission approved the revision of Portugal's PRR, which now amounts to 22.200 billion euros.

This change includes the financial allocation of the European energy programme RepowerEU (704 million euros), as well as the unused allocation from the Brexit adjustment reserve (81 million euros).

The PRR, which has an implementation period until 2026, aims to implement a set of reforms and investments with a view to recovering economic growth.

In addition to repairing the damage caused by covid-19, this plan also aims to support investment and generate employment.
