European stock markets rise as London and Wall Street are closed

The main European stock exchanges were up today, in a session with a smaller volume of transactions due to holidays on Wall Street (Memorial Day) and in London (Spring Bank Holiday).

At 08:55 in Lisbon, the EuroStoxx 600 was advancing 0.03% to 520.75 points.

The Paris and Frankfurt stock exchanges rose 0.02% and 0.20%, while those in Madrid and Milan rose 0.18% and 0.15%.

After opening higher, the Lisbon stock exchange maintained the trend, and at 08:55 the main index, the PSI, was up 0.42% to 6,929.23 points.

European stock markets started the week with slight gains, after Wall Street closed on Friday in positive territory, with a new record on the Nasdaq, where large technology companies are listed, thanks to the excellent results of the North American manufacturer of 'chips' Nvidia.

The Dow Jones ended up 0.01% to 39,069.59 points, against a new high since its creation in 1896, of 40,003.59 points, recorded on May 20, and the Nasdaq up 1.10% to a new high of 16,920.79 points.

The interest on the 10-year German bond, considered the safest in Europe, rose to 2.587%, against 2.583% on Friday.

A barrel of Brent oil for delivery in July opened higher today, trading at $82.27 on the Intercontinental Exchange Futures (ICE) in London, against $82.12 on Friday.

On the foreign exchange level, the euro opened higher on the Frankfurt exchange market, trading at 1.0850 dollars, against 1.0847 dollars in the previous session.
