Vodafone network has accumulated a record in mobile data traffic in two consecutive days thanks to the debut concerts of American Taylor Swift in Portugal, who performed at Estádio da Luz, in Lisbon, on May 24th and 25th.
In total, the swifties generated 8.6 terabytes (TB) of data on the Vodafone network, having achieved records for two consecutive days.
"The concert this Saturday generated a traffic of 4.8 TB, above the 3.8 TB of the previous day that had already exceeded the highest value processed until that moment at Estádio da Luz by the Vodafone network: on September 9th, 2023, during the match between Sport Lisboa e Benfica and Futebol Clube do Porto, the maximum mobile data traffic had reached 2.5 TB", clarified the company, in a statement sent to the newsrooms.
The same note added that about 49% of the traffic volume in the concert on Saturday night "corresponded to the use of the 5G network, surpassing the 47% of the previous day".
"This is a network marked by lower latency, more speed and connection capacity of more devices. These are percentages higher than what is normally seen in events of this nature", it pointed out.

This substantial increase was based "not only on the size of the event, but also on the fact that the consumption profile of users is increasingly oriented towards the use of applications on mobile devices, such as Instagram, X, Facebook, YouTube or TikTok".
It is recalled that Taylor Swift debuted in Portugal on Friday and Saturday, having been accompanied by the band Paramore. In front of a packed Estádio da Luz, the artist assured that she had surrendered to Lisbon - and we witnessed everything.
