Adhesion to the Transportes Sul do Tejo strike is around 85%, says Fectrans
The 24-hour strike by Transportes Sul do Tejo (TST) workers, which operates a road network in the Setúbal district, had an 85% adherence rate at 8 am today, a union source told Lusa.

"Until 8 am, there should have been 200 cars on the road and only 17 left the Laranjeiro terminal", explained Sara Gligó, leader of the Federation of Transport and Communications Unions (Fectrans).
TST, with around 900 employees, serves the municipalities of Almada, Seixal and Sesimbra.
The employees who had already carried out a 24-hour strike on May 9 decided, on Monday, in a plenary session to maintain the stoppage scheduled for today and to set two more strike days, on June 5 and 25.
The plenary session was called by the Union of Road and Urban Transport Workers of Portugal (STRUP), affiliated with the Federation of Transport and Communications Unions (Fectrans), and by the National Union of Drivers (SNMOT) to inform the employees of the proposal presented in the meantime by TST, which operates in the district of Setúbal, in a meeting held on May 20.
Sara Gligó, leader of Fectrans, explained in statements to the Lusa agency that the company presented some changes to the initial proposal, dropping, for example, the requirement that the meal allowance be paid on a card, one of the employees' demands, increasing the value to 7.30 euros from June 1.
On the other hand, she added, the company also expressed its willingness to apply a 5.89% increase in 2024, with a minimum increase of 60 euros.
In addition, the company is also willing to equalize the salaries of TST employees with the salaries paid by the company Alsa Todi (which operates in the municipalities of Alcochete, Barreiro, Moita, Montijo, Palmela and Setúbal) on December 31, so that the employees of the Setúbal peninsula have their salaries leveled.
However, the union leader explained, the employees understand that the values proposed by the company still do not reach the 80 euros of increase and the 9.60 euros of meal allowance they demand, so they ratified the strike scheduled for Tuesday and set two more days of stoppage, on June 5 and 25.
