Macau hotels welcome 1.15 million guests in April
Macau hotels received more than 1.15 million guests in April, a 5.6% year-on-year increase, it was announced today.

In the month under review, the territory had 143 hotel establishments, 13 more than in the same period last year, providing 47,000 rooms, according to a statement from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC).
In April, the average room occupancy rate of hotel establishments was 83.3%, up four percentage points year-on-year, the DSEC said in the same note.
Of the total of 1,159,000 guests, 823,000 came from mainland China, or 11.8% more in annual terms, while those from Taiwan (34,000) and South Korea (24,000) increased by 96.1% and 245.2%, respectively. The number of guests from Hong Kong (165,000) fell by 35%.
In the first four months of 2024, the average room occupancy rate in hotels was 84.5%, representing an increase of 8.4 percentage points over the same period last year.
During that period, hotel establishments hosted around 4.93 million people, an increase of 29.8% compared to the same period in 2023.
The Chinese special administrative region received 11.47 million visitors between January and April this year, an increase of 58.9% year-on-year, according to DSEC data.
