Nasdaq index surpasses 17,000 points for the first time
The Nasdaq index set a new record on the New York Stock Exchange today, breaking the 17,000 point barrier for the first time, continuing to benefit from the positive effect on technology of Nvidia's results.

At 5:15 p.m. (Lisbon time), the Nasdaq, dominated by the technology sector, was up 0.52% to 17,009.45 points, after setting other records last week and closing at 16,920 points on Friday, an unprecedented level.
The excellent results of chip manufacturer Nvidia last Wednesday boosted the three main indices of the New York Stock Exchange (Dow Jones, Nasdaq and S&P 500).
Nvidia recorded a net profit of 14.881 billion dollars (13.749 billion euros) in the first quarter, seven times more than in the same period last year, with a 262% increase in turnover.
Almost unknown two years ago, the technology company Nvidia gained notoriety with the developments in artificial intelligence. The capitalization of the Santa Clara group is the third most important in the S&P 500 (more than 2.5 trillion dollars).
