Court of Auditors gives the 'green light' to the new Lisbon Oriental Hospital
The Court of Auditors (TdC) has given the 'green light' to the new Lisbon Oriental Hospital, which will replace six health units in the capital, an official source from the institution told Lusa today.

The contract for the new hospital in Lisbon, won in February by Mota-Engil, has a planned investment of 380 million euros over the next three years.
In a statement sent to the Portuguese Securities Market Commission (CMVM), "after verifying all the precedent conditions, namely those related to financing this important project for the country and for the Lisbon region" Mota-Engil confirmed "the signing of the management contract for the Lisbon Oriental Hospital hospital complex under a public-private partnership", by the consortium formed by several companies in the group.
The production of effects was only dependent on the approval of the Constitutional Court, which an official source from the court told Lusa today has already been given.
According to the construction company, the contract involves "activities of conception, project, construction, financing, conservation, maintenance and operation of the hospital complex".
According to information available on the Ministry of Health website, the new hospital, which will be built in the parish of Marvila, will have an in-patient capacity of between 870 and 1,300 beds.
The project involves more than 180,000 square metres (m2) of construction, divided between three buildings.
The Lisbon Oriental Hospital will replace six health units, namely the São José, Santa Marta, Capuchos, D. Estefânia and Curry Cabral hospitals, as well as the Alfredo da Costa Maternity Hospital.
