Maria Arrais is one of the stars of the new seasons of 'Morangos Com Açúcar', from TVI/ Prime Video, with the premiere date set for the last quarter of the year.

The Fama ao Minuto was on the first day of shooting, last Tuesday, April 16, on Carcavelos beach, in Cascais, and talked to the actress, 20 years old, who is the daughter of actress Susana Arrais, and who, despite being very young, already has a decade-long career.

How long have you been in the acting world?

I started 10 years ago and it's great to be back home where I started [TVI], in 'Única Mulher'.

Tell us a little bit about your character in 'Morangos'.

I'm really happy with this opportunity. Lucy is a very challenging character, she gets into some schemes. But she has a complicated life, her parents are in jail and she lives with her aunt. 

Did you ever think about joining 'Morangos com Açúcar'?

I never thought about it much. I had already auditioned for other seasons and I was sorry I didn't get it, but I think that what has to happen, happens and I'm very happy to be here now.

What has your mother said about your progress over the past 10 years? You're following in her footsteps...

My mother is very happy. Although we have very different paths, I owe a lot to my mother for the fact that I started to realize early on that this was what I wanted. If I had come from a family that didn't have such a connection to the arts, I wouldn't have realized so early that it was something I really liked. Maybe I would only be starting now.

Did we have to do any special preparation for this character?

We had a month of rehearsals, which was amazing, because it's very difficult in Portugal, we have so much time to rehearse and, therefore, it was really great. There wasn't anything specific, but I've been working, it's a challenge like any other.
