Nuno Markl comments on the case of assault on a Nepalese child at school

Following the example of the presenter Rita Ferro Rodrigues, Nuno Markl was also not indifferent to the case of aggression against a nine-year-old Nepalese boy, carried out by schoolmates while allegedly uttering xenophobic insults against him.
"How sick this country is, is evident in some (too many) of the comments that various people have made about this news," the comedian and radio host began by noting on his Instagram page.
"I even read something like 'what if it were Nepalese children beating a Portuguese girl, would it be news?', which, in many ways, is one of the stupidest things I have read in recent years," he says.
"Starting with the fact that the education of Nepalese children almost makes this type of violence and hatred impossible, by definition. But it's not just that: comments like this reflect how natural it is, for some people - some parents - this idea of retribution against all foreigners, all people of a different culture or skin colour. These kids are just putting into practice what they hear at home. Possibly some even received compliments. The other, the different, the outsider, is always one too many, is an invader, is a criminal", he analyses.
"Of course, predictably, there will be those who say 'there you are, acting morally superior'. I think that no one is morally superior for thinking that xenophobia and bullying are shit. Now, if someone feels morally inferior to this, that, very sincerely, is no longer my problem", he concludes.
