Abandoned ex-husband with Alzheimer? Noémia Costa clarifies
The actress was talking to Manuel Luís Goucha.

Noémia Costa was yesterday, May 15, talking to Manuel Luís Goucha on TVI's afternoon program. After talking about the difficulties she went through professionally, the actress also remembered her ex-husband, Licínio França, who died in 2021.
Noémia began by justifying her move to the United Kingdom, after separating from the actor. "I had to understand a series of things that had happened in my life," she noted.
The artist, now 60, admitted that she was affected by many news and comments that emerged during this period of separation. "People lived with me and Licínio without us realizing it," Noémia stressed.
At the time, Noémia Costa was even accused of leaving her ex-partner when he was diagnosed with Alzheimer's, which she decided to explain to Goucha: "They said I had left Licínio. I separated from him and seven years later he got Alzheimer's".
"I would like people to tell me which people separate and then continue [with the person]... I spent two years or so taking care of Licínio and then I had to free myself," added the artist who guarantees that her ex-husband never lacked anything, even when he was admitted to a nursing home.
"The first time he saw me, he grabbed me and cried. He was a man I loved very much," she added, as you can hear here.
It is worth remembering that Noémia Costa, in the interview she gave to Daniel Oliveira in 'Alta Definição', admitted to being a victim of domestic violence during her 22-year marriage to Licínio França, the father of her daughter Joana. "Nobody wants a relationship to fail, especially 22 years later. But I shouldn't have let the relationship go on any longer. I would spare Joana from having seen certain things that, unfortunately, she ended up seeing. She is the fruit of a great love. I have been alone for 14 years. I have learned not to make the same mistakes if someone else comes along. Not to allow [certain things]... I have learned to gain respect for myself. Physical and verbal aggression is always painful," she said at the time.
