47 years ago, the first episode of 'Gabriela' premiered in Portugal

47 years ago the first episode of the iconic Globo soap opera - 'Gabriela, Cravo e Canela', was broadcast in Portugal, in 1977.
It was the first Brazilian soap opera to be broadcast here and captivated thousands of viewers who gathered around the small screen to watch the adventures of Gabriela, a character played by actress Sônia Braga.
On social media, RTP Memória recalled the ephemeris, considering that the plot - based on the novel by the writer Jorge Amado - was broadcast on the first channel.
Having been on the air for six months, as RTP reports, sessions in the National Assembly were postponed so that the deputies could watch the episodes.
In 2012, the public had the opportunity to watch a remake of the story, this time starring Juliana Paes.
