Miranda isn't the only one. The expulsions that marked TVI reality shows

André Filipe, in 2020, and Marco Borges, in 2000, are just two examples. Remember the rest.

Miranda isn't the only one. The expulsions that marked TVI reality shows

The first reality show in Portugal was aired in the year 2000 and already in that edition there was an expulsion that caused a stir. Twenty-four years later, the productions of programs of this genre continue to be confronted with the tough decision of opening the door to contestants who have overstepped the mark, even when they were the protagonists of the current edition.

But let's go back to 2000, to begin with. The first edition of 'Big Brother', hosted by Teresa Guilherme, will forever be marked by the kick that Marco Borges gave to Sónia Veiga. After an intense argument, the personal security expert assaulted his housemate and ended up being expelled from the game.

TVI gave tremendous prominence to the case and Marco was the main guest on TVI's news block, having been interviewed by Manuela Moura Guedes.

Years later, more precisely in 2010, a new reality show arrived on the channel. 'Casa dos Segredos' immediately presented many similarities to 'Big Brother', both in terms of concept and the fact that it had several contestants locked up in the same house for many weeks, and curiously the first edition of this format was also marked by the expulsion of a participant.

Ana Isabel and Hugo Felgueiras were talking outside when Vítor Rangel, Ana's boyfriend, was overcome by jealousy and assaulted them both.

On the same program, but in 2013, Wilson Teixeira headbutted Hélio Catarino and saw his participation in the reality show come to an end.

In 'A Quinta - O Desafio', there were two expulsions. Pedro Capitão slapped Pedro Barroso and ended up being expelled shortly after. Weeks later, Bruno Savate 'lost his temper' with Larama, Liliana Filipa and Daniel Gregório.

In 2015, on the program 'Casa dos Segredos - Luta pelo Poder', Zezé Camarinha entered the house and, a few minutes later, was expelled. He confronted José Castelo Branco and, when the conversation escalated, approached the socialite, ending up pulling his hair. It was the fastest expulsion from Portuguese reality shows.

On the return of 'Big Brother' to TVI, in 2020, Pedro Soá, one of the most promising contestants, saw his participation end sooner than expected. In addition to raising his voice and saying some stupid things and insults, Pedro approached Teresa Silva shouting, an attitude that was not excused by the production. This expulsion marked a new era in Portuguese reality shows and it was from this decision that it was realized that the production's leash would be much shorter.

In the edition 'Duplo Impacto', Hélder Teixeira made the Nazi salute more than once, while André Filipe vandalized the house. Both were sent to the exit door by Big.

Already in the current edition of 'Big Brother', Catarina Miranda was expelled for breaking a glass after losing her temper. Some of the shards hit Gabriel Sousa on the arm and eye and, despite the lack of intention to hurt her colleague, Catarina was not forgiven. She was the protagonist of the game and the probable winner of it.
