José Pedro Aguiar-Branco has been a prominent topic in the news over the past few days due to the controversial response he gave to a question asked during the sectoral debate with the Minister of Infrastructure and Housing, and several figures from the worlds of art and television have publicly condemned the situation. After the leader of Chega, André Ventura, said that the Turks "are not exactly known for being the hardest working people in the world", the parliamentary leader of the PS, Alexandra Leitão, asked to speak in order to ask the President of the Assembly of the Republic the following question: "If a certain bench says that a certain race or a certain ethnicity is dumber or lazier or less worthy, can it also?". "In my opinion, it can," replied José Pedro Aguiar-Branco, a view that is leaving many people outraged and upset, as well as having drawn criticism from the other parliamentary benches, with the exception of Chega. In no time at all, social networks were 'flooded' with posts made by well-known public figures who left the phase "no, it cannot" on a black background.
