Joana Lemos tells her love story with the Fiat millionaire heir
The former Portuguese driver tied the knot with Lapo Elkann in 2021.

An interview that Manuel Luís Goucha did with Joana Lemos, a former Portuguese pilot who found love with Lapo Elkann, heir to the Fiat millionaire empire, was broadcast this Wednesday, May 22.
When asked by the presenter how this love story came about, Joana stated: "I have been friends with Lapo's uncles for some years, they were the ones who introduced me to him. It was not a thought that had ever crossed my mind - to have a boyfriend who was Lapo. We had different lives", she acknowledges.
However, the interviewee ended up changing her mind as she got to know her now husband - haunted by the fame of being a 'playboy' and leading a life of excess. "I started to be charmed by his genius, because he is in fact a genius in his capacity for creation, he is a super emotional man, he is a heart in person", she says, acknowledging that her husband turned out to be a person "different from the image he conveyed".
Joining the family, which happened with the marriage in October 2021, also only had positive aspects. "I was very well received. It is a united family, who live in a more honest and simple way than the image that people create. Above all, they share the same principles as me: family is the most important thing. The legacy that was left to them is remarkable, it is a source of pride, because it demonstrates the respect and wisdom to perpetuate this legacy, but they do not live in its shadow"-
"Lapo is a person who has done much more outside… All his great creations, with the exception of the Fiat 500, were much more outside this family protection. His sister is a film director and has made her own films", she adds, noting that the family, despite being wealthy, likes to work and bet on new projects.
"They are hard-working people, who do not lean on others", she guarantees.
It should be noted that Lapo Elkann has a fortune estimated at 11 billion euros.
