I Thought My Iron Was Clean Until I Discovered This Trick

Are you ironing your clothes and they still look dirty? According to Informe Brasil, there is a homemade solution that promises to put an end to the nightmare of cleaning your iron, without having to resort to chemicals.
Start by getting a piece of medium cardboard and some table salt. Then, turn on the iron to a medium temperature and spread an even layer of salt over the cardboard.

Carefully pass the cardboard with salt over the surface of the iron. As Informe Brasil explains, the salt will act as a mild abrasive and thus remove stains without damaging the iron's coating. If necessary, repeat the process.
After removing the stains and ingrained dirt, turn off the iron and let the appliance cool completely. Finally, simply wipe any salt residue off the iron with a damp cloth.
