Watermelon is already starting to appear in fruit shops and supermarkets. The season is starting and this fruit can bring several benefits. For example, it is a good option to keep the skin young, all due to the high amount of water it has.
"If you are dehydrated, the outermost layer of the skin will not have enough water and the skin will not return to normal if pressed. If you moisturize, the skin recovers", explains dermatologist Alok Vij to the 'website' Health Digest.

In addition to over 90% water in its composition, watermelon contains vitamin C, an essential element for the production of collagen, which gives elasticity and strength to the skin, while also helping to renew cells. Lycopene is another component.
"Watermelon is rich in alpha-hydroxy acids, citric acid and malic acid, which are natural exfoliants. Regular exfoliation rids the skin of dead cells, brightening it and increasing collagen production", says dermatologist Howard Murad.
