In May, Gouveia receives a new edition of the Wine Cities Contest
It is the fifth edition of the event. It takes place from May 9 to 12.

In a note sent to the Lusa agency, the Gouveia City Council stressed that the initiative will bring together a panel of thirty judges in the city for four days to evaluate wines from municipalities throughout the country.
The jury will be chaired by António Ventura, a Portuguese oenologist, current president of the Portuguese Association of Oenology and a consultant at Provintage (winemaking consulting company), a company he founded.
In addition to the competition, the event includes several initiatives aimed at enthusiasts and the curious.

The local authority highlighted the realization of tourist and gastronomic initiatives, with emphasis on guided tours of the farms, commented tastings of Dão - Serra da Estrela Wines, wine dinners and the IV Wine Cities Competition gala.
There will also be an interpretative walk on the biodiversity of the Dão - Serra da Estrela vineyards and a discussion panel on some wine-related topics.
The event, which has the High Patronage of the Presidency of the Republic, aims to promote the wines of Dão - Serra da Estrela and the entire national territory, as well as the territory of Gouveia and Dão Serra da Estrela.
The Wine Cities competition is a joint organization of the Association of Portuguese Wine Municipalities (AMPV) and the Association of Portuguese Wine Routes (ARVP), with the support of the Gouveia City Council and the Wine in Moderation program.
