Even if you're doing 'everything right', you can't lose weight and you get discouraged. We guessed it, didn't we? Well, you're most likely making mistakes in the most basic things.
To the Sport Life portal, nutritionist doctors Ana Luisa Vilela and Marcella Garcez point out seven reasons why you're not seeing results. Namely:
1- Make very strict dietary restrictions
According to nutritionist doctor Ana Luisa Vilela, it's the most common mistake of those who diet. What happens is that restrictive diets in caloric terms can be one of the reasons why your metabolism is slow and, consequently, you can't lose weight.
2- Yes, unhealthy fakes exist
Nuts and oilseeds, for example, should be consumed in small quantities. Although small, they are quite caloric, which makes the weight loss process difficult.

3- Prioritize crystallized, dried and oilseed fruits
Alternatively, opt for fresh fruits. "They are good sources of fiber", highlights nutritionist doctor Marcella Garcez, director and professor of the Brazilian Nutrology Association. The same cannot be said about fruit juices: "A glass has much more sugar than a piece or a portion of whole fruit".
4- Bet only on 'light' or 'diet' foods
Marcella Garcez clarifies: "A 'diet' food is adapted for diabetics and, therefore, does not necessarily have low calories. The 'light' one has 25% less of some nutrients, not necessarily calories, which may not favor weight loss".

5- Consume only 'low carb' foods
Low-calorie foods can be high in fat and, as such, can lead to weight gain.
6- Opt for foods with a high glycemic index
"A glass of orange juice can have up to 118 calories. Therefore, give preference to fruits with a lower glycemic index, such as pear and apple, as well as those that are rich in fiber, such as fresh and dried plums, blackberries and fresh cherries", advises nutritionist doctor Marcella Garcez.
7- Only reduce meat consumption
Stopping eating meat does not guarantee that you will lose weight. "Normally, vegans and vegetarians end up consuming more carbohydrates and, consequently, increase their caloric intake", she warns.
