Menopause Before 40? May Raise Risk of Early Death, Study Says

A study by the University of Oulu in Finland has warned of the dangers associated with women going through menopause before the age of 40. Among one of the conclusions, they mention that the risk of death may be higher since there may be a greater probability of having health problems, such as heart disease or cancer.
The conclusions of the investigation were presented at the 26th European Congress of Endocrinology. According to the 'website' Talker, most women go through menopause between the ages of 45 and 55. However, one in 100 may begin to experience changes before the age of 40.

The study analyzed data from 5,800 women between the years of 1988 and 2017. They concluded that women who went through menopause earlier were twice as likely to die from heart disease and four times more likely to die from cancer.
"This may not only happen to women who go through menopause earlier. Women who have their ovaries removed at an earlier stage also have the same risks," reveals doctor Vanessa Soviero to the 'website' Medical News Today.
"The findings suggest that attention should be given to these women in order to reduce excess mortality," says Hilla Haspakoski, one of those responsible for the study.
