Think twice before eating shrimp without removing the black line that this food usually has. The Informe Brasil suggests that it may not be the safest option.
This black line is nothing more than the shrimp's gut. As such, it contains partially digested waste and can harbor bacteria and toxins that are harmful to human health.

Although the amount of toxins in a single gut is small, consuming them frequently and in large quantities can accumulate these toxins in the body, causing long-term health problems.
To properly clean the shrimp, use the tip of a knife to remove the guts. Then, just wash it very well in running water.
