Yes, you read that correctly. Low-maintenance plants do exist. Want the list? To create it, the experts at Costa Farms, as cited in Better Homes & Gardens, tested different species to find out which ones could survive without sunlight or water.
How? They left some plants in a dark room, without water, for three weeks. Five species passed the challenge and were "looking fabulous".
Plants that survive (without light or water) for weeks:
- Ponytail palm (beaucarnea recurvata);
- Sago palm (cycas revolata);
- ZZ plant (zamioculcas zamiifolia);
- Snake plant (sansevieria trifasciata);
- Aglaonema spp.
