There are many ways to play with your cat. However, do you often end up getting bitten by your pet, even when you’re just trying to interact with them? A pet behavior expert has shared some reasons why this might be happening, as per PetsRadar.

According to Amanda Campion, there are three main reasons. One of them has to do with the animal’s natural instincts.

"Biting is an innate, instinctive predatory behavior in cats. As kittens, they practice their hunting skills, honing their reflexes, and fulfilling their natural desire to chase moving objects."

This is also a form of communication. "By gently biting another cat or a human, they may be showing their comfort levels or attempting to initiate play."

This can also be a socialization experience. "If your cat doesn’t have the opportunity to simulate a hunting sequence, they may resort to biting and other predatory behaviors."
