Never tried cranberry juice? There are several reasons why you should start buying it more often. Consuming it in moderation can have very positive effects on your health and help you lose weight. Specialists, quoted by BestLife, explained everything you need to know.

Benefits of cranberry juice:

  • It can help prevent urinary tract infections. Cranberry juice "contains compounds called proanthocyanidins that may help prevent UTIs by stopping bacteria, such as E. coli, from sticking to the walls of the urinary tract," explains Raj Dasgupta, a physician; 
  • It can improve cellular health. "The antioxidants in cranberries may help prevent the growth and spread of certain cancer cells, particularly those in breast, colon, and prostate cancers," he adds; 
  • It can improve cardiovascular health. It is possible that "the antioxidants in cranberries help reduce inflammation and 'bad' cholesterol, which means a lower risk of cardiovascular disease"; 
  • It can aid in digestion and gut health. Cranberry juice has fiber that can "help keep your bowels moving regularly, and the antioxidants in cranberries reduce inflammation in the gut"; 
  • It can improve oral health. This fruit can "help with oral health by preventing the bacteria that cause plaque and cavities from sticking to your teeth, which means fewer cavities and healthier gums," explains Raj Dasgupta; 
  • It can strengthen the immune system. In general, "the high vitamin C content in cranberry juice can boost your immune system, helping your body fight off infections and illnesses," he adds; 
  • It can improve joint health by decreasing inflammation. "This can be especially helpful for people with conditions like arthritis, where inflammation contributes to joint pain and stiffness"; 
  • It can help you lose weight and improve insulin resistance. It is low in calories and "has a high water content, so it can help keep you feeling full and reduce your risk of overeating."
