Redecorating your home? Try not to make this common mistake
Interior designer explains everything you need to know before choosing the paints for the walls. Read carefully.

When you're (re)decorating a house, you have a number of important decisions to make, like choosing paint colors for the walls. It's important to choose "a color palette that flows nicely from room to room," as well as coordinating the colors with your baseboards, says Andrew Pharis, an architect and interior designer, as quoted on Martha Stewart's website.
For example, people often default to painting all of the baseboards in their home white, but they shouldn't. "When the baseboards in a home are all painted the same color, especially in non-white rooms, it's a missed opportunity," he explains.
Instead, "when choosing paint colors, select a baseboard color that complements the wall color or go a shade darker. This will add a layer of sophistication and help the room feel more polished."
