A campaign by the Portuguese League Against Cancer, carried out in partnership with Merck, aims to raise awareness of some of the symptoms of bladder cancer. "Unexpected color when urinating? It's something you shouldn't ignore", is one of the phrases that can be read on the Lisbon and Porto metro.
"You should pay attention to the color of your urine. One of the most prominent signs of bladder cancer is the presence of blood in the urine, with a variety of colors, including red, pink, orange or brown. A sign that should not be ignored and should lead to a consultation with a doctor", reveals the campaign.

According to data from the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), cited here by the press release, this cancer is the ninth most frequent type worldwide.
It is estimated that the survival rate reaches 90% when the diagnosis is early. In addition to the color of the urine, the campaign warns against smoking and the fact that it is more common in men.
The campaign will be available until May 29 in Lisbon and until June 5 in Porto.
