Casio Announces Collaboration Between G-Shock and Surfrider Foundation
New model features a bezel made from recycled materials and a resin strap.

Casio recently announced the latest addition to its shock-resistant G-Shock family of watches. The new G-5600SRF was designed in collaboration with Surfrider Foundation, an organization dedicated to the protection of the oceans.
Founded in California in 1984, Surfrider Foundation is now an international environmental non-governmental organization with about 250,000 active supporters in 23 countries worldwide. “Sharing the foundation’s philosophy of protecting the oceans and seas and recognizing that G-Shock is a brand of choice for surfers, Casio has partnered with Surfrider Foundation on seven models between 1995 and 2010,” the brand said in a statement.

In 2024, the eighth product of this partnership arrives, the G-5600SRF, a shock-resistant watch that features a bezel and band made from recycled resin recovered from Casio’s manufacturing facilities. “The resin waste is finely crushed, mixed into a base urethane material, and then molded into the required components. The result is a unique and playful design created by the black and white flecks of this material,” Casio describes.

The Surfrider Foundation logo is featured on the dial and case back, and the hashtag #oceanfriendlylifestyle is printed on the band ring. This model is also practical, as it features a Tough Solar charging system that generates power from sunlight and fluorescent light, eliminating the need for battery replacement.
In addition, both the watch and its packaging are made from recycled paper, which together give rise to this watch.
