Homemade solutions to keep clothes moths away:
- Dry clean or wash clothes in hot water. To eliminate moths, you can always dry clean the affected items to avoid further damage. For items that can be washed at home, it is recommended that you use hot water, without causing damage, of course;
- Freeze the clothes. "You can also freeze the affected items." Yes, you read that correctly. Simply place the infested garments in sealed plastic bags and store them in the freezer. To kill the eggs, as well as the moth larvae, "place the clothes in a freezer that maintains a temperature of -17°C or less for a week". Then, remove the items and air them out, they advise;
- Sunlight. "Exposing affected clothing to direct sunlight helps because ultraviolet rays can stop and kill clothes moths, their larvae, and eggs";
- Essential oils. For example, "cedarwood, lavender, and eucalyptus oils are natural moth repellents". You can apply them to cotton balls and place them in closets and drawers.
