Data from the National Institute of Statistics show that, in 2022, 6175 babies were born before the 37th week of gestation. That year, premature babies accounted for 7.4% of all births.
Aware of this reality, the clinical psychologist Olga Reis revealed, through the social network Instagram, five characteristics of premature babies that all parents should know.

1- Sleep more hours, but for short periods, and make a lot of noise;
2- Prefer less noise, toys, distractions and eye contact;
3- Have difficulty using self-soothing strategies, such as thumb sucking;
4- Show sudden changes in behavior and mood;
5- Need more attention and time for care.
