Lifestyle Lisboa à Prova

Seven Lisbon restaurants received the top award in the Lisbon à Prova gastronomy contest. Among them are the Michelin-starred Alma, Cura, Kabuki and Sála. The announcement was made today by the organization, which highlighted the sector's resilience in a "challenging period".

Alma (two Michelin stars), Cura, Kabuki and João Sá's Sála (one Michelin star each); Lapa; Pabe and Varanda do Ritz are the restaurants awarded '3 Forks' in the 2023-2024 edition.

In a note sent to Lusa, the organization highlighted that the restaurant sector is facing a "challenging period" due to the "shortage of qualified human resources, the continued increase in the cost of food and energy, among others, and the difficulty in managing reservations due to no-shows by customers".

However, it stressed, "the restaurant sector is resilient and constantly evolving, and with everyone's contribution it will continue to grow".

The organization also pointed out the registration of the largest number of new restaurants in the last five years (49 with less than two years of existence), which, it commented, "demonstrates the vitality of this sector which, after a few years of pandemic and its effects, demonstrates the capacity to renew itself".

10 restaurants were also awarded the '2 Superior Forks' award, "a record number", 31 with '2 Forks', 41 restaurants with '1 Superior Fork' and 52 with '1 Fork'.

The awards are given after several months of visits to the registered restaurants, which total more than 530 visits by a selected jury, which evaluates the cuisine, service, atmosphere and quality/price ratio. The restaurants are registered in the categories of Traditional Portuguese Cuisine, World Cuisine and Contemporary Cuisine.

The trophy presentation ceremony took place today at the Paços do Concelho, with the presence of the project's institutional partners: AHRESP, the Hotel, Restaurant and Similar Association of Portugal represented by the president of the board, Carlos Moura, and Vitor Costa, general director of ATL, Turismo de Lisboa.
