"Brazil continues to follow with grave concern the escalation of tensions between Iran and Israel, this time with the report of explosions in the Iranian city of Isfahan," reads the document released by the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
"Brazil appeals to all parties involved to exercise maximum restraint and calls on the international community to mobilize efforts to avoid escalation," it added.
The statement also reported that the appeal made publicly to the international community was transmitted directly by the Brazilian Foreign Minister, Mauro Vieira, to the Iranian Foreign Minister, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, in a bilateral meeting at the United Nations (UN) headquarters in New York.
In the early hours of Friday, Iran was attacked with missiles, although the operation was not claimed by Israel.
However, Iran is experiencing a day of apparent normality after the attack, which caused no damage but triggered an initial alarm that led to the closure of four airports, which later resumed operations.
The alleged Israeli attack on Iranian territory came after Iran launched 300 missiles and 'drones' (unmanned aircraft) at Israel last weekend, in retaliation for the deadly Israeli attack on the Iranian consulate in Damascus, Syria, earlier this month.
