"At a time when the entire world is becoming aware of how threatened our freedom of speech is and how close we are to a dictatorship, I make an appeal to you, an invitation," the former president said in a video posted on social media to summon his supporters, in an attempt to pressure the ongoing investigations against him.

The famous green and yellow 'canarinhas' jerseys and the Brazilian flags, which were used by 'Bolsonarismo' during the 2022 presidential campaign, should once again be the most seen image from 10:00 am (2:00 pm in Lisbon) on the Copacabana beach.

According to the local press, more than 20 Brazilian deputies and senators raised around 25 thousand euros to finance the logistics of the demonstration, which will be attended by Bolsonaro, his wife, Michelle, his parliamentary children, governors, including the governor of the state of Rio de Janeiro, Cláudio Castro, evangelical pastor Silas Malafaia, in addition to dozens of deputies and senators.

Two electric trios (open-top trucks used in Carnival) will accommodate the 'vip' guests who will make speeches from there saying they are in favor of true democracy, freedom of speech, against censorship and against investigations into the attempted coup d'état on January 8, 2023, when thousands of radicals invaded the headquarters of the three powers in Brasília in an attempt to remove Lula da Silva from the presidency.

Speaking to Lusa, federal deputy José Medeiros, one of the most prominent figures of 'Bolsonarismo' in the lower house, stated that the mission is to "ensure civil rights guaranteed by the Brazilian constitution".

José Medeiros also made harsh criticisms of the Supreme Federal Court (STF) judge Alexandre de Moraes, the 'number one enemy' of the Brazilian radical right, accusing him of censoring many Brazilians through "abstract constructions".

This will be a repeat of the demonstration on February 25 in São Paulo, but which has now gained new impetus after billionaire Elon Musk, owner of X, entered the scene and repeatedly criticized the fact that social networks of Bolsonaro's supporters were banned for encouraging the demonstrations that resulted in the attempted coup d'état and for having spread unfounded information about the electronic ballot boxes used in the presidential elections and for alleged interference by the Superior Electoral Court.

"De Moraes definitely interfered in Brazil's elections," Elon Musk wrote on social media on Wednesday.

In the 2022 presidential elections, Lula da Silva defeated Bolsonaro, who refused to recognize his defeat, leading his followers to set up camps in front of military bases to protest the presidential election results and demand military intervention.

Eight days after Lula da Silva took office, thousands of 'Bolsonaristas' left the camp in front of the Army headquarters in Brasília to attack the headquarters of the three powers in an attempt to force a coup against the newly installed government.

In recent months, the Brazilian police, the Public Prosecutor's Office and the Supreme Federal Court have advanced in investigations and punishment of the perpetrators of these acts. About 1,232 people were arrested and charged, of whom 116 have already been sentenced to up to 17 years in prison.

The Brazilian authorities have not yet reached a conclusion on whether or not former president Bolsonaro participated in inciting these acts or on the role of financiers, public officials, including military personnel, and other authorities suspected of omission or facilitation.
