Bella, the world's oldest orangutan, has celebrated her 63rd birthday in style, Guinness World Records has announced.
The animal is believed to have been born in 1961 and was taken from the wild three years later. She has lived at Hagenbeck Zoo in Hamburg, Germany, ever since.
To mark her birthday, zookeeper Jill prepared Bella a delicious rice cake with fruit and quark.
The zoo revealed in a social media post that "due to her age", the orangutan "no longer comes to the outdoor enclosure regularly", however, she "often takes undisturbed walks in the evening".
"We hope that Bella will stay with us for many more years, because we think our old orangutan lady is simply fantastic," the post continued.
According to Guinness, "the typical lifespan of an orangutan in the wild is 35 to 40 years, increasing to around 50 years in captivity".
Bella has held the record for the oldest living Sumatran orangutan in human care since 2021.
